A2 Biology - Nephron structure (OCR A Chapter 15.5)

The nephron is the basic functional and structural unit of the kidney. It does ultrafiltration (where substances in the blood are filtered out into the tubules) and selective reabsorption (where useful substances are taken back into the blood). In this video we'll look at the structure of the mammalian nephron so to better understand how those two processes work to produce urine and regulate blood water/salt levels.

Hi, great video! I was just wondering.. I'm delivering this lesson to my GCSE Triple biology classes. AQA specifies students are not required to know the structure of either the kideny or the nephron. I find it's probably more difficult to teach and grasp not knowing the structure of either.
Just wondering what your opinion is? It's certainly not beyond GCSE students. Thanks
