My father retired as a top bureaucrat from Haryana in 1995…from the batch of unusual honest IAS officers!!!
Soon after he passed away peacefully. Growing up I never saw him throwing his weight around or being arrogant. As kids we lived in huge government houses with security men and what not but he was very clear that none of that was permanent or ours. He didn’t have properties or tons of money that I heard other IAS officers had. We had one simple house when he retired. That was his earning of life. I remember once my brother got upset with him and hold him, “papa, you should have made tons of money..how come we are always working hard?” And his response was, “ I started from scratch and my goal was to retire with dignity and peace of mind. Money can be momentary but your conscious will always prick you for the wrong deeds.” Good lesson that I tell my kids today.
I can’t thank you enough for reminding me how proud I am today to be daughter of an IAS officer who worked day and night to help people and to make a difference.

As an African American I will say I love that India got their country back from an imperial power and now is a world power and will likely dominate the later years of this century.

My Shashtang namaskarams to you Palki. My father retired from the IAS and is 93 now. He belonged to that rare breed of honest officers who contributed to India selflessly. While I knew all the while that the Civil services was and is the steel frame work of India ...it is also true that it is loosing its sheen. The current breed are more keen on posting their own videos and blowing their own trumpet not understanding that it is their work they have to do. Being down to earth is missing...colluding with politicians for personal benefits is rampant...what I am saying is..they are diluting their own respect. Today I am proud of my dad and privileged to be son of an unsung hero...but the truth is he has always been my hero...admiring him silently..thanks Palki...May God bless you with eternal happiness. Jai hind. Jai Shri Ram.

Look at our US civil servants.... mostly corrupt. I'd like to forget them. Your reporting of India's history of civil servants was eye-opening and should always be remembered....

Finally someone who appreciated the worth and hardwork of our executive officers. Yes we have some cunning minds among them, but nevertheless there are way more hardworking people. We must acknowledge and appreciate them. Thankyou Palki❤❤
