Sound walls for reading are a way to organize phonemes and spelling patterns for students to use as a reference when they are spelling and reading words.

This video provides some basic information about sound walls, how they are different from word walls, what to do if you have limited space in your classroom, and how to introduce a sound wall to your students.

Hi!
I'm really interested in using this Sound Wall in my ESL classroom. The problem is, I teach various grades in the same classroom thoughout the day, so I'm not sure how I'd be able to use the lock system where you hide sounds until taught, that you mentioned in the video because each grade will be at a different stage in what sounds they know and are learning. Do you think it would still be worth it to use a sound wall in that situation, with maybe just some modifications? (I teach grades 3-6 elementary, 3rd grades being the first year they start English here in South Korea).
Thank you so much!
