Algebras and Entropies For Black Holes and De Sitter Space

In ordinary quantum field theory, entanglement entropies between different regions of space are divergent, but in the presence of gravity they seem to become finite and well-defined, at least in certain situations. I will describe a simple algebraic construction that leads to well-defined entropies for a black hole and for de Sitter space.
