The regeneration of nerves happens only in the peripheral nerves, not happen in the central nervous system, that is the brain and the spinal cord will not regenerate. Only the peripheral nerves if they are injured, they regenerate. Normally the nerve has a central conduction tube called an axon, surrounding it, a layer of fatty layer, which will increase the conduction velocity. If the two nerves brought to a close proximity, there is a natural mechanism the axon growing into a distal end and then forming a myelin sheath. This is a natural process and no one can control it.
