Opening Ark Nova 2014 with Michael Haefliger

LUCERNE FESTIVAL ARK NOVA is continuing this fall in Sendai, Japan, for a second round following the success of the opening season in Matsushima.

The goal of the project, which was initiated by Michael Haefliger, Executive and Artistic Director of LUCERNE FESTIVAL, and Masahide Kajimoto, President of KAJIMOTO, is to contribute to the cultural reconstruction of the region in Northeastern Japan which was affected by the major disaster of 11 March 2011. An inflatable, mobile concert hall that was designed by the British artist Anish Kapoor in collaboration with the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki will serve for a second time, from 1 to 9 November 2014, as a venue and meeting place for artists and the local population ― this year in the center of Sendai, the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture.
