Those of us who follow Ward are familiar with his military career so it was great that this interview went into detail about his post military life. Because of Ward’s media background and his story telling skills he has the ability to broach a variety of topics and make it interesting and approachable. Compared to most other military personalities with YouTube channels Ward brings a unique set of qualities that elevates him above the crowd.

In the Marines, as a pilot, I flew the A-6 Intruder and got 55 combat missions at the tail end of Vietnam as we assisted the South Vietnamese in driving the NVA back across the DMZ in '72. We Jarheads referred to the A-6 as "a crew-served weapon", meaning that the crew, a pilot and an NFO, ("B/N" for bombardier/navigator) flew the mission as a team. Mooch's thoughtful and instructive discussion of the relationship betwen a pilot and an NFO, RIO in his case, is spot on. I later "jumped ship" after a very gratifying tour as an advanced jet instructor pilot in the TA-4 Skyhawk, and joined the Air National Guard, flying the RF-4C reconnaissance version of the awesome Phantom for 14 years. Again, the aircraft was a two seat, pilot and WSO (weapons system officer) crewed machine. The "crew concept" for effective mission accomplishment was a natural follow-on to my A-6 experience. Having a lot of solo time in the A-4 gave me the perspective of judging the dual concepts of two-seater vs single seater for safety and mission effectiveness. Today, despite all the contemporary electronic automation of third and fourth generation tactical jets, if given the choice, I would still take the dual crewed over the solo configuration. Bottom line remains that two heads are usually better than one. Mooch would have been a gem to fly with!

Great story. I can relate. 1972 don’t know what to do after highschool. Committed at 17 to Academy. First flight was a flight to Baltimore for I day at Annapolis. Dad was WWII pilot, I was USNA 1977, Navy Wings in 1979. Topgun in 1985. Retired USNR 1997. What great adventures that I relive with your awesome stories. Thanks for sharing.

I see the Team House is on I like. I see Mooch is on I double like. Enjoyed every second of this stream from Ward’s life in the Navy to his experience in the Mil-Blog sphere to the political commentary. One thing that I also liked was when Jack was addressing that not every guest had to be operators

THANK YOU TEAM HOUSE! Soley because you've hosted Ward, and you guys touched on this in the livestream, I trust Ward's take on everything except guitars. Everything else he's covered is solid gold to me, and for that reason, I am now here with you guys! This is how it's supposed to work. Carry on.

Just saying as a former Canadian military guy...

Very much enjoyed the good, the bad, and the ugly of this interview. This is exactly what the Internet is all about. And should be about. So, good job!

Few things to say as a Canadian. Obviously, only speaking for myself, former infantryman then avionics tech, if you can believe it...

Knew a couple of guys with Ranger tabs who were Canadian Airborne. So, I love U.S. Army Rangers. A Ranger tab actually means something, if you ask me.

As a Canadian Air Force guy, spent 2-weeks at NAS Miramar in the 1990s. San Diego was great. Our squadron of CF-18s went there to train with the U.S. Navy. And I can attest to the size of F-14 Tomcats. Those things are huge in terms of fighter aircraft. I'm an F-18 guy but still love every other aircraft.

As for the never-Trumpers. Totally agree with Ward. Donald Trump is a charlatan. He's a Vietnam draft dodger. He's a bone spur cadet. You know, a coward. The lowest of the lowest when it comes to being an American. Or any citizen.

As for Ted Cruz, don't even get me started. I lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You know, where Ted Cruz was actually born at the Foothills hospital. He's not even an American anchor baby. Why's he's even considered an American is beyond me?

So, being a Canadian, I have very little time for fake Americans, snake oil salesmen, or guys who've never even served in the military.

Me thinks you Americans should send Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley out to your next war. You know, like on the frontline. I bet they don't last all of two minutes, lol.

I have to say some bloggers take a subject in clear daylight and leave you in the fog.
When Ward does the same he leaves you in the clear light of day. His annunciation and authorative communication ability are 2nd to none.
As a Brit aviation/military enthusiast fact is far more important than fiction, and that's what you get 😊

I love to listen to Mooch because our careers ran parallel. Me, with the enlisted perspective, it's nice to hear the O-side of what was going on.😎

Really appriciate this episode, love hearing Ward's perspective on today's world and it's historical warnings about where we're headed if we don't stop this authoritarian push usually caused by poor education of the populace
