After some mindless surfing and watching great youtube vids.
This gadget / invention caught my attention after some video's and reading.
and order me one of course.
Today was the day it came to my house and I was very exited.
Unboxing this thing and looking and feeling this little wonder of technology was simply awesome.
After we went out for a first flight (which you can see in a next movie)
And it was very funny and caught allot of attention of bypassers.
We had a great time !
For what I understand it was all invented and created by 1 man, 1 enthousiast. Edwin's project: Edwin Van Ruymbeke

XTREM MINIATURIZATION
Fitting all the working components into this life-sized bird’s body (8 cm x 2 cm inner diameter) meant leaving all the standard methods behind and starting from a revolutionary design:
Ultra-compact structure, a centrally aligned “spinal cord.”
Mechanics, a proprietary patented speed reducer at the end of the motor allows for the elimination.
Electronics, in order to optimize the number and layout of components and to produce a postage stamp-sized board! As well as using a manufacturing process with tolerance levels worthy of watch making.
MANAGEABILITY AND RANGE
WEIGHT AND MATERIALS
We could write extensively on the number of steps we had to work through to achieve the incredible weight of 8.35 g for the finished bird. Each component, down to the smallest axles, has been the result of a weight-optimization study. The motors: the battery has been developed to an outstanding quality in collaboration with the most specialized manufacturers. The two processors: the most advanced electronic components in miniaturization have been selected. Unconventional materials (liquid crystal polymer, carbon fiber, self-lubricated polyacetate) have been used to maintain performance while reducing the weight. Not to mention the wing research, enabling such great propulsion.
BIONIC BIRD RC, THE BEST IN RADIO TECHNOLOGY
For Bionic Bird RC version (Avitron), we chose the very best from the world of high-end radio control – the 2.4GHz – despite it being more complex to develop than infra-red or 27MHz systems. Spread Spectrum to automatically synchronise with the bird, and also to allow several other birds to fly in the same space without having to buy a quartz.
