We did a Rhine river cruise 5 years ago and visited several Christmas markets during that trip. We loved them so much that we are leaving in 2 weeks to visit Budapest and their Christmas markets for our 30th anniversary. So excited!

You definitely peeked my interest, but I usually don’t travel in the winter.
What I wanted to share, was I found a shop on Etsy sells the backpack straps that you can add to any jacket!

I used my travel umbrella at the Christmas market in Munich. Blondo makes stylish waterproof shoes. I’m taking my Blondo booties to Strasbourg, Colmar and Paris markets in a couple of weeks! Thanks for the tips, Laurie!

I just came back from a Rhine River Christmas market cruise and these tips were on point! 100%. My tips: bring a portable bluetooth receiver like " I fly"that allows you to use your wireless headset, it will be useful with the tour guide headsets as you can go wireless and not get tangled. Another tip, wear outfits that can go to day/night by changing shoes or accessories. Tours can happen right up to dinner time and there will not be much time to change. I brought flats and a fancy necklace. Wore it every night, no one cared. Elevated my style in 5 mins.

I did a day long pontoon trip up the Mosel river in May and it was so cold and blowing rain. I was yhe only one with a rqin repellent jacket. The jacket was waist long and I wish it covered my backside but I had a blast on that trip. We stopped and had tea then stopped again for lunch and once more for a quick look at a vineyard and wine tasting. It was unplanned but the boat owner/captain nee the owner and got us a casual look. Most fun for a day near our apartment.

We always pack a medium sized square duffel for putting our clothes in on the way home. That bag is checked. We can then place our purchases in our carry on bags.

Went to boarding school in Frankfurt for high school...it was wonderful...went back a couple of years ago ate so much brotchen and bratwurst! Most of the hotels we stayed at we opened the windows for fresh air.

I agree that the Christmas Markets look best after dark. My tip is to check the time for sunset. It's often much earlier than you are used to at home, meaning you can get to the market earlier. Also the last hour to hour and a half before the market tend to be less busy if you're wanting less crowds. Leaving in 10 days for my trip to the Vienna Christmas Markets!
