It's a great board, and it's one of the most advanced longboards we've ever created. You'll have a blast with it as a beginner, and you'll be able to grow into it as you progress. That being said it's also one of our most expensive. Models from the Arbiter and Freeride lineup offer great performance for a really good price.

It's really dependent on how invested in the sport you want to be. Bang for it's buck the Apex Diamond drop is still an outstanding value.

Totally, in comparison to an Apex with the PK noseguards on it, the Apex without feels like it has no pop at all (which really just goes to show HOW much pop you have when they are on there). Awesome to hear you are into them, I think they are one of my favorite projects out of all the stuff we have put out these last couple of years. _Scott

honestly, the fact that you guys at original reply to our comments and are so enthusiastic about it as well, just makes us viewers feel like you actually care. so i'd personally like to thank you. oh and on a side note i have an apex dd with some cult classics and i love it more than any other board i've ridden.

Stoked on the support, the only thing I would say is that those are two pretty different boards. If you are going for the Apex do it for the carve, the durability and most of all the freestyle boost you are going to see over that drop-carve. That said the drop carve is really more like the Freeride 38 / 41. So its sort of comparing apples to oranges in a way. Not that we aren't stoked to have you taking a look at our stuff, just want to make sure you get what you are looking for

"Our" longboards aren't pricey.
There are different classes of decks within Original Skateboards and those different classes address different needs using different materials. I think the question you are really asking is; why is the Apex more expensive.

The truth is, it uses stronger materials.
Carbon fiber is not cheap, but more than that, all carbon is not created equal.
To find which carbon is better, knock on the board. Better composite / carbon sounds more metallic.

Hi AJ! Since you're interested in carving you may want to get the Original S8 trucks which are spring loaded and designed for carving purposes. These trucks fit onto the double concave nicely and will turn the board into a surf simulator, allowing you to make tight carves easily! -Lindsay
