Founder of Fattmerchant, Suneera Madhani, didn't plan for a future in entrepreneurship. As the daughter of immigrant entrepreneurs, she understood the path was volatile, so after graduating college, Madhani began her career in corporate America. While working at a financial services company, Madhani learned more about the credit card processing industry and felt that small businesses were being taken advantage of from a payment processing standpoint. When no one took her idea to add transparency to the industry seriously, Madhani decided to solve the problem herself. In 2014, at 26 years old, Madhani launched Fattmerchant— a subscription-based payment processing platform to help small to medium-sized businesses take control of their payment ecosystem. To initially fund the company, Madhani attended various startup pitch competitions and earned over $200,000 in winnings. Their initial success gave Madhani the confidence to seek venture capital and scale the business. While raising Series A funding, Madhani became pregnant with her first child, Mila. But her pregnancy didn’t stop her from raising capital; in fact, it fueled Madhani's success. Five years later, Fattmerchant has raised $20 million in venture capital and has processed over $5 billion in payments. Through her podcast, CEO School, Madhani is on a mission to elevate women and help more female entrepreneurs achieve 1M in revenue while advancing the conversation around working motherhood.
