When do we use SHALL in English?

A lot of English learners are curious about the word “shall” – is it the same thing as “will”? When exactly do we use it? I’ll answer those questions in today’s lesson.

Shall is similar to “will” because it talks about the future - but we almost never use it in American English nowadays. I can think of three situations in which Americans occasionally use "shall."

If you’ve got a question about a word or a phrase, please let me know, because I love getting ideas from students about tips and lessons to create in the future.

Madan, I am 66 year old English learner from India. I find it more and more interesting in my retired life. I started English learning from scratch though I knew a few words and ready made sentences I learnt at school.
This video has solved all my doubts about shall.
Now I have a request to you. I have heard necessarily and not necessarily many times in English. Would you please explain its usages ?

Thank you very much! So, to sum up based on your examples, "shall" is no longer used for future actions. It is only a modal verb now.

Yeah ! When I learnt English at the grammar-school, the teachers told us to use "shall" for the two first persons and "will for all the other persons.
Now I'm used to watch American videos by American English teachers who say "will".
Thank you for explaining so well!
