I have study generators for a long time I finally decided to purchase one for my house I live in Louisiana my purchase was a generac 20kw diesel generator(money well spent thank you lord for blessing me with the money to purchase) that replaced my portable gas one that I use for years the only reason I purchased diesel was because a storm that went through Louisiana a couple of years ago people with natural gas gen sets had issues with low gas pressure and they were burning appliances, up my gen set turns a 1800 RPM's and has 95 gallon tank I have spare diesel on hand 58 gallons and my truck is diesel 36 gallons I have plenty of diesel for a long run but do have my portable on standby if needed, God bless you guys in Texas we in Louisiana are praying for your fast recovery

Nice video. I too just survived Beryl in Houston area 40 hours w/o power. I have the 12500tfc westinghouse, I hooked mine up to natural gas, back fed it into electric panel and have soft start on 2 ton a/c. I used 3/4 hose ran 60 feet from natural gas meter to gen in back yard. Sure loved how it worked.

I just got the Westinghouse 12500w dual-fuel generator. Haven't had a chance to set it up yet, but glad to see so many people happy with the Westinghouse.

Great video thank you for taking the time one thing I may want to point out. Is put a half inch 90 on the valve coming out with a 6-inch nipple then you can hook your lineup and make the bend.

Update! I have the same generator now and shed. What I did was remove one screw on the regulator and turn the regulator around so it's facing at an angle towards the handle. Works Great! Remember to loosen hose when doing so. Reposition regulator then tighten clamp back down on regulator before moving forward. One screw will hold regulator in place. I just screwed the other screw back in place. Ended up doing it like this because I was having a hard time removing connector from regulator because of blue locktite from manufacture being installed with part.

Man we just went 3 day without power here in north east FL with hurricane helene, and I just ordered the westinghouse 12500 DF. My little onan 7000 was just barley enough for lights, frig and freezer. Got to have AC here in FL during the summer so I aint playing around any more! great video!

As for your hose issue, you can probably get a 90 degree elbow in there where you are reducing the diameter to allow you to close your door. Great setup! Definitely an inspiration and gave me some ideas for mine. I bought land up around Madisonville and will be building up there and plan to have a mix of gen and solar for backup. I'm looking into some mini-split ACs that are hybrid and run direct off solar and the grid as needed (solar with good light, grid at night unless you also get batteries). I'll have a large propane tank. If I still owned my previous home, I would have did something similar to what you did since it is a gas home. Thanks for sharing, and hopefully you won't need it again soon!

I purchased a 6600 Westinghouse only Gas Generator after the Freeze in Houston and it was the best investment ever. I ran 1 fridge, i small windown unit, two fans, wifi and work computer on it, no issues. Westinghouse is the way to go, next project may be the setup you have on this vid, thanks!

I've got both Anker Solix F3800 with 1 extra battery & Westinghouse Wgen9500DF.

Westinghouse handled Central AC with an easy start, no problem.

While the Anker handled the rest of the house at night, during the day I was able to charge it with the Westinghouse.

I bought the latest eg4 chargeverter to provide clean power, for future use but arrived a day before hurricane & I didn't need it.

I have 3 x 100lb propane bottles which I only used 1 during the hurricane Beryl.

I have 100ft 6awg extension to put the Westinghouse as far from the house as possible & secured to the fence post in the back yard.

The Anker provided 1.5 hrs of use on full charge pushing 5000watts(3500watts was AC alone)

Westinghouse provided 24hrs total time on a 100lb propane bottle.

Westinghouse is the way to go, price & efficiency but I like having the option of running essentials quietly at night & do maintenance on the Westinghouse hence the Anker.

Zero, issues during the hurricane with my set up.

So for everyone who has a natural gas generator one way to check to see if your genie is getting starved is turn on your gas stove one burner at a time, check the flame, if it goes down it is starved, if none of them are really on you have a major problem. Now run the genie on a full load and repeat the test.

Glad it worked out for you! I have the 9500DF version. Was able to run on propane but not gas. We were without power for one week. Propane only lasted 12 hours. Been a week since I put a ticket in Westinghouse. Haven’t heard anything.

Spot on with the oil dumps and break in. Soooo many people just put oil and run until 25 hours or much more. Gotta get all the glitter out

We are still without power using my 14 yo gennie I bought after Ike. That little 5kw gennie runs just about everything you mentioned.. But this one storm has me wanting a larger gennie to run the AC. I just finally did my third oil change a day ago... LOL.. I'm thinking about the 16kw inverter they make...

Just saw this video. I purchased the WGen11500TFc because of output and low THD at 6%. I supplied natural gas, replaced the OEM spark plug, installed the magnetic oil cap and added the OEM oil. The generator fired up on the 3rd try and I ran it for half an hour. I need to change the oil, but running this on natural gas is the way to go.

Great video! The Westinghouse WGen 11500 looks like a solid choice for emergency power. I appreciate the in-depth testing during a real hurricane. Would it be okay if I share this video link on our website, Today Generator? I think our audience would find it really helpful!
