How To Copy Save Data From Your PS3 To Your USB Drive

Directions:
1. Connect Your USB Hard Drive to your Playstation3
2. Go to your game utilidy
3. Copy the specific game you would want to copy
4. Push triangle and select copy
5. Select your USB Hard Drive to import saved data

Thanks for the upload!!!! I love you <3 My PS3 has some sort of Yellow light of death and it only stays on for like 30 seconds at the most! And now I know how long it takes to copy and where to do it ;)

Some save data can't be copied. I tried but when you press triangle your USB doesn't show on that particular save data. What can be done to copy those types of files? so I can transfer them to my PS3 Slim.

PS3 doesn't recognize your USB?ake sure your USB is formatted ( FAT 32. Think) . If you're a newbie with the whole formatting thing then I want you to know that you will definitely delete whatever is on your USB if you format it so remember to save them somewhere ( on another USB or on PC) first.

Better check a USB key which is not invaded by virus first.
I wish to transfer PS1, PS2 and some PS3 games savedata into PS3 emulator, beside PS3 consoles.
Savedatas files are important.

When you put it in a new PS3 (if it dies) do you have to go to "Saved Data Utility" and type display all to restore the saved data?

If the option to transfer the game to the drive doesn't show up is because some games don't allow you to copy to an external drive for some reason.

You can't. It's impossible to do that because that's exactly why Copy save protected data works. You can move it onto a new PS3 with the save transfer utility, or you can send it to Playstation's exclusive cloud feature-to later be moved onto a new PS3 or the same one that you're getting repaired I guess. Why do you want to move the data specifically onto your computer?

also its FAT32 formatted and the usb shows up in ps3 -2 only in photos and videos and rest but not in saved data utility

It still works if you don't have play station plus you just can't save it to the cloud

You can only transfer like profile data & multiplayer data but not like game patches right? you have to install them in the new PS3 right?

Go to playstation store, pay 18 dollars for Playstation plus. Go to saved data utility, access the new online storage by going to the game you want copied, and there should be a golden plus next to the word copy. Copy this to the online storage. Log into your account and it will be there.

oooo now this is just perfect that new game Dead island awesome apart form the fact that there is a risk that you suddenly loose all your data by playing online and of corse you cant just copy the bloody thing!

Yeah you could put data on there BUT what I'm wondering is if the flash drive is in your ps3 and you start up a game will the ps3 load the data from your flash drive

i had problems with my psn account, so i desided to make a new user on my ps3 so i could make a new psn account. the main problem is that i tried to copy my red dead redemption game saves to my new user (without a USB stick) so i could keep on playing online. but it said that the saves was made on another user blablabla and i could not keep on playing on my new user. and this is kinda boring becouse i was in a pretty hight lever. so, will the problem be the same if i use a USB stick?

@GameInsiderTv basically im currently playing RAGE but it takes up too much room with save data like my current progress in the game? So i wanted to put my current save data on to a USB and just continue the game from the usb? the data, not the actual game. Like put the disc in and play the data from USB instead of harddrive? does that make sense?
