also consider: use a special mat that helps so you don't grow mold under the bed!!

Also please put your mattress on something to give airflow especially if you live somewhere humid it prevents mold and mildew

there are purpose made floor bed frames . it may seem pointless but they usually allow airflow which stops it going musty or mouldy . alternatively you could air the mattress regularly

Youre combing advice for different ages in an incoherent way. A crawler can have a blanket. A newborn can't.

What’s considered classy if you’re rich but trashy if you’re poor?

People being told "don't co-sleep" is like schools only teaching abstinence. Most parents end up co-sleeping with their babies at some point during their babies life, but bc they don't know how to safely co-sleep it causes sids. Co-sleeping and breast feeding can actually decrease infant mortality when done properly ❤️

We coslept for 6 years with my babies from day 1. I could have not imagined them sleeping away from me in a separate room, especially when I was still breastfeeding.

I just hate that rich people do this and it’s not a problem but a momma doing her best in a little apartment gets her kids taken away for not having a bed frame 🤦🏼‍♀️

There is nothing more sad then a child death scene. That was my first field call on during residency at a pathologist. During our rotation at the medical examiners office. Beautiful 18mobth old dead in a room now too different from this.

So did you change anything about the room to make it safer? I’m confused

Okay, you were giving ideas for babys/infants from about 3-4 months on blankets, sheets, and stuffed animals; 4-5 months old (beginning crawlers who are trying to explore) with outlets; curtains, pull cords, placement of toys (should be types of toys since you were mentioning choking hazards and all the ones you showed were) and bookshelves.

Mention of mold under mattresses. We get it that if the little gets the urge to find mommy or daddy, they won't really get hurt from falling. A couple of things also consider besides your specific climate: you have SHAG OR DEEP PILE CARPETING! Of course, you're going to have moisture/condensation residing under the mattress. Even low piled carpeting can (yes, wooden floors too, but that is a bit easier to control that carpeting). This also applies to bookshelves or any other furniture that sits directly on the floor. One solution is to place a couple of bricks under the mattress to elevate it slightly for that air circulation. Also, do you still have the plastic on the mattress (hey, some people do, especially if little ones aren't at the stage of being dry for the night!) That can add to the excessive moisture under the mattress.

As far as co-sleeping, that's individual preference. People have for centuries and still sleep with their babies and young kids worldwide with no issues. Yes, im a mom, 4 kids, and yes, i co-slept with mine with mo issues.

And also don’t put multiple kids on the same bed, esp if they have a blanket
That’s how my niece sadly passed, her older sibling was sharing a bed and we assume they got hot and tossed the blanket off and it landed on my niece’s face and that caused SIDS
She was healthy, happy, and yeah and it took a small blanket over her face for her to be gone man
It was tragic and I hope it never happens to anyone else
Good luck to parents out there ❤

Should probably tell people that floor beds can get moisture underneath and cause mold on the mattress

I coslept with my kids. The bed wasn't like this and we used a large crib with one side taken off so the baby technically slept in a crib. I couldn't roll on them but they could reach me when the needed me. Once my daughter was silently suffocating on vomit. If she didn't smack my face I might never notice. There was a heart monitor but she woke me before things got dire.
Sleeping with babies is always about a risk benefit analysis, don't demonise parents who do things differently.

"Are floor beds safe"

* countless cultures and countries around the world have left the chat *

(Edit: lol, the amount of people in the comments who don't understand I'm talking about the people she's talking about and NOT HER is baffling)

Floor beds are for toddlers or above, not infants. Babies need to be in a crib, not just left on the floor. Only Sims should leave their babies on the floor.

Fully agree on the blinds' cords. Even older kids have gotten hung from blinds cords.

Co sleeping is very safe when done properly and reduces SIDS. Most of the world does it and SIDS as well as suffocation cases are lower than in the US

I really hate when people just say "don't cosleep" there are ways to do it safely and can actually be very beneficial for both mom and baby when done properly

And remember, these “rules” are ever changing through your child’s early life and it’s smart to check sometimes and make sure you’re following the correct guidelines for your child’s age ✨✨
