Fastest way to find diamonds for me is find the level lava pools spawn and dig straight forward one direction, mine 3 blocks left or right and mine back the way you came, repeating that system. You should have two blocks between each hallway you mine. Doing this is also great for all other ores. Just make sure your mined paths always come to the point or room you mined your stairway to the surface

How to get diamonds fast: go in creative mode, then click diamonds.

1.Water room : Important room
2.Lava room : Dangerous room
3.Cave : Spider room
4.A lot of diamond room : The room you wish

Diamonds spawn around ores like redstone, gold, and coal. So when you find those ores, mine around them, because there might be diamonds...
