Ever seen a fully-aluminized (yeah, that's a word now) Tamiya Hornet/Grasshopper? Well now you have!

And the wheels were also an ebay find:

In watching you do this, it brought back so many memories of when I built my original Hornet way back in 1986 while I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.

Bought a Grasshopper as my 1st rc car. Ran the Gh around the street then a neighbor came out and ran his Hornet. I should've bought that" I said, it is much faster than the Gh. Eh, later bought the Frog.
Excellent vid and chassis Fil keep up the great work bud.

Looks cool. Maybe ‘bend’ will be a problem rather than ‘break’ now? Anyways. Looks cool. Would love to give it a shot too.

On the list! Moving into the new place now Fil already made the entire garage off limits. Making the whole thing Hobby Town.

Tamiya Hornet Speed Challenge😃
What an awesome upgrade, I think you might have the best hornet out there👌.
Thanks for sharing another great video and detailed mod 👍🍻🦘🇦🇺

I've been eyeballing this chassis for some time. I got a couple of Hornets to put one on. So glad u did the video, it looked bad in the picture of the adds. Great job on the video and explaining what it all come with.

Hey Fil, another awesome chassis build pal. It looks great quality and I appreciate you showing us all.
However, I was more impressed with you bag opening skills dude. You are a ninja! 🥷

Excellent upgrade to the Hornet! Been wanting a new Tamiya for several years, just never pulled the trigger. I'd like a brushless setup, but not for speed, just for the water resistance and the reliability/performance boosts, and with powerful speed comes powerful impacts, and a chassis like that will fit the bill!!
I appreciate you pointing out it's weak spots, I believe I can work around those. Keep up the great work, I subscribed!

This one intrigued me, must admit I’m not useually one for alloy chassis replacements as slot of the time using kits it excessive amounts of it can ruin a rcs handling, but I thought this looked cool and I’d like to build my own and compare it on track against my standard hornet I race and compare them. So cheers for showing us the chassis build. Cheers fella

Ah, but you should leave in the swearing, I would love to hear that in Canadian! Do you then swear in French? And then you can rightfully say Pardon my French afterwards...
Well, joking aside, it does look cool with all that extra aluminium! I have seen those option chassis' a couple times when searching to but the actual Tamiya version, maybe someday I'll pull the trigger and get me one!
It's cool, I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the body, and generally seeing it put together and put to its paces. Buggies belong out in the dirt!
Have a great rest of the weekend there, buddy!

Nice review on the chassis! I’ve been wondering how the RCAidong aluminum chassis is like. The spring loaded rear mount is a great feature.

Would you be able to do a parts list for your hornet build please? I have just bought one and it has no transmitter or receiver and all stock parts. I would like to upgrade to a lipo setup with brushless motor but would like a bit of guidance as to where to start. Many thanks in advance. Love the channel!

This is super cool. Not sure it’s worth the 128 doll hairs but still neat. Talk about the ultimate hornet

I wonder how it drives. Got a Hornet in the early 90s, totally wrecked it. Re-bought one last year. Added some aluminum parts already, but wondered wether the aluminium body is too heavy?

That supplied rod that goes through the gearbox to mount it to the chassis would be for the grasshopper, as it didn’t pivot like the hornet. This chassis would work with the super hornet/grasshopper 2 hey?
