It's not just fancy, that's a brilliant way to implement it into the gameplay

Now I'm 110% sure I'll NEVER be able to afford this game! 🤦🏿 $137.80 for the "Fancy" version?! This world isn't fair.

Can we get a middle ground? Worried about how expensive that deluxe version is going to be.

I will say, have absolutely adored my platinum edition of Moonrakers, and very much looking forward to playing with the expansions that just arrived.

The deluxe version was really nice to play. So enjoyable and the magnets save the day when someone accidentally knocks a ship over

I would like to see publishers provide updated bling for games. I am feeling indented boards to prevents tracking cubes sliding are a must now. One way to do this is have dimension match with replacement parts. Just label replacement parts as upgrade bling or something.

This game was SO fun, and I attribute a large amount of that enjoyment to the deluxe components, although not as much as just how excellent the game mechanics are to begin with.

How do the magnets release to reveal the troop values at the end of a round?

I am going to say it:
I love the deluxe edition for how it looks and seems like it feels..
But I feel like there is not enough in it for me to get pulled in and prefer it over the retail.
The hidden cardboard chits for ships, resources and buildings feel similar to Battle for Rokugan and that game is fun to play with simple cardboard tokens.
I feel the fun of the game will shine through more cleanly in the more simple carboard version, even at the expense of missing on the beautiful ships and the magnetic bases.
Furthermore, .. the player boards even if they are not particularly huge, .. I feel they use a bit too much space than necessary, comparing it to the regular retail version.
I don't know if I am being nit-picky or what is my problem, .. but I have been feeling like a miniatures-heavy game is not my preferred version of games, .. I find myself more interested in simple versions using acrylic standees or chunky meeples over plastic minis (unless the appeal of the game IS the miniatures moving on the board), for this game, the real game is on the battle discs and those work fine with cardboard in my opinion..

The only downside to prefer cardboard, is the tactility and the actual hiding of the value by the ship, but strategy and gample-wise, the exact same is obtained by the simple components.

A middle ground would be nice, like someone commented, so that getting some of the premium add-on components wouldn't feel out of place with the regular cardboard ones 🤔

Not gonna lie, something about the retail version I like more. I like tokens and I like that you can actually see artwork on it of the locations. Also, the retail version seems to have a little bit of a player aid on the screen.
