LOE Classrooms: Foundations D Lesson Lesson 126 (Ms. Lattin's 2nd grade class) #logicofenglish
Показать описание
See Logic of English in action as this 2nd Grade class works on Foundations Lesson 126!
To begin this lesson, the students write some of the multi-letter phonograms they have learned as their teacher says their sounds. They practice identifying nouns that are people and review the definition of a noun they have learned.
Then, in the Spelling section, the students discuss some of the reasons they have learned that vowels can say their long sounds and then discover a new spelling rule: I and Y may say /ĭ/ or /ī/ at the end of a syllable. Then students take phonograms and spelling rules they have been learning and apply them as they learn the spelling of new words. Ms. Lattin's students are so engaged as they sound out, spell, analyze, and mark the words they are learning, taking turns leading each other through the activity with support from Ms. Lattin when needed!
Filmed on site in Ms. Lattin's class on April 13, 2018. Thank you to Ms. Lattin and students for sharing their lesson with us, and for all their enthusiasm and energy, as well as their hand motions and silly voices!
Walkerville piloted Logic of English in 2017-2018. Since Ms. Lattin's class was starting Logic of English for the first time, they began with levels B and C of Foundations before moving on to Level D. In future years, with students who have already gone through Foundations C in 1st grade, the 2nd grade class will review previously taught concepts, finish C if needed, and then spend much of the year focused on level D.
