Foundation, primer, base that mixes well together when it comes to oil base, water base or silicone base products. I have a feeling that some types just don't mix well when use together on the skin and it causes the foundation to break down or peel up

In my 20’s (almost 50 years ago) I used a powder puff to press loose powder all over my skin and then remove the excess with a fluffy brush. I cannot do that anymore with my older more textured skin. But I used to love the way it made my skin look. And actually in my 40’s/50’s I used Jane Iredale pressed base with a puff and then sprayed with their spray and put another layer of powder pressed on top. But I can’t do that any more either. Ugh this getting older isn’t for sissies. Thanks for speaking on this subject. I’m happy to find information on line to help me navigate this agent makeup stuff.

Hi Lisa. I've been shaving my face for years. It's fabulous for getting rid of dead skin cells.
I do have dry skin. I hydrate with an essence, a vitamin C serum, Coq-10. I let everything sink in. Then i go in with my moisturizer, and finally sunscreen. I let the sit for as long as I can.
You are so right. So many people wear too much foundation.
I love your brushes, but for my dry skin, I do prefer a makeup sponge for foundation application. But love your bronzer brush, and your gorgeous powder blush, and I'll only use yours or Angie's eye makeup brushes.
I thought baking was leaving. Ugh. I simply use your large powder brush, with the Hourglass loose powder, and use the smallest amount posdible.
Definitely the unbaked side looks better.
Everything you've said, I've implemented from watching you all of these years. Thank you ever so much.❤😊🥰

My biggest problem is foundation sinking into pores. Im 61 with combo skin and very large pores, tried different primers, techniques etc. and nothing has helped. I would love your opinion on this !

Lisa! Your eye makeup is stunning today. I’ve seen this particular combo in the past on you. It’s gorgeous. Could you please do a tutorial on this look sometime or tell us what you’re wearing? I appreciate the attention to detail you always put out in your videos and of course BK Beauty!! Thank you for teaching me how to apply makeup with the correct tools. It’s taken my makeup to a whole new level. 🙌🏻❤❤❤

Another great video!! Thanks!
And yes a video about why foundation is breaking down and pilling like someone else said would be so helpful. One day it works beautifully and the next it looks crazy and I don’t understand why. Primer or sunscreen underneath maybe??

I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I'd love more! I'd like to see how blush and bronzer are applied because that is my biggest issue. I feel like my bronzer doesn't go on as easily or as perfectly as it should. It seems that the left side of my face has divots on my cheek that my right cheek doesn't have. I've also had a stroke with left side issues, so I may not be seeing correctly. I also want to know what types of foundation, primer, and powders play well together.

Thanks Lisa i learned that baking as you mentioned is not good for mature skin your method is far more productive and definitely keeps us looking younger. Also your brushes are key to beautiful make up application i have almost all your brushes and just recently gave my friend a make up tutorial and she just ordered your entire brush set as i told her that buying these brushes was essential 💕

I have for years used inexpensive brushes, I decided to pick up your brushes last year. What a difference a good brush makes! They are worth the investment!

I have dry skin and fine lines and for my eyes especially, every concealer creases… I’ve started using liquid/cream shadow that’s closer to my skin tone on the upper lids and then I take a little and smudge it on the lower line & bam! No creasing! For me the color I use is the matte sky wash from glossier in pebble (im very fair, cool toned). It just smooths everything out better than anything else and stays in place!

I cannot say it enough….you are a fantastic teacher! You speak to a person, not at them. You also demonstrate what you’re talking about. I’ve watched a re-watched so many of your videos, just to relearn some helpful tips. I would love to see a new natural makeup application where you go in depth on how you hold your brushes, how much product you pick up and how it’s applied to the face. Then, it’d like to see that same look intensified to a nighttime look. You’ve done videos like these in the past; however, I’d like to see a more updated one.

Yes more of these. Ummm I have had very oily skin my whole life. Between that and getting older, I have large pores mid face and nose especially, and I find minimizing plus adding foundation difficult to make and keep. Any tips would be helpful. I’m currently pressing the elf putty primer with their brush in a stippling motion which helps a lot, and then barely putting any of my Sephora Best Skin Ever over the area in order to try to keep that effect.

I love this. I did my makeup yesterday for work, but I was in a rush, soooo I didn’t let my skin care absorb as long as I should have, I tried to use more concealer so I could use less foundation and then powdered using a pressed powder and puff (way too much powder) and it looked fine initially. I use the restroom just a few hours later and am appalled at how old I look and how creasy and dry my skin looked, particularly under my eyes. Why? I broke nearly all your rules here. It really does make a huge difference to prep the skin properly and go in very light layers, in the steps you recommend. I also can not recommend enough using a setting spray or mist after you apply any powder products especially. It will make a dry, cakey, overly powdery, or creasy face melt together to look phenomenal once it dries down. I don’t even think many give more staying power but they all give a much more seamless, photo focus appearance to the skin vs skipping that step. Can’t agree more with her suggestions to avoid a day like I had yesterday… and you wanna avoid days like that😂 I only wish you would had finished your makeup because blush and bronzer, throwing in contouring in addition can also add a lot more problems, and you skipped all those.

Great video for makeup application❤ My biggest problem is how to line my lips….the outline has faded quite badly over the years. Second biggest problem would be how much concealer to use and what colour and which one 😊

I would love to see a video on lashes. My bottom outer corner lashes have recently been wanting to stick straight out. I use a lash growth serum and even use a specific mini wand when applying mascara to them but they are driving me crazy. They're my bottom lashes so idk how to curl them.

I appreciate your help and explanations of application techniques. I'm 67 and dealing with lines/wrinkles, pores, and changing skin. Would like a video specifically addressing aging changing skin. Thank you.

I really appreciated how you pointed out the differences between Brush 113 and 108 so well- I appreciated knowing why type of application motion works better for each brush and just the overall pros of each. Before I would have bought both because I had no idea which would work best for me and I’d probably rarely use them because I wouldn’t understand them. Now I would probably buy both because I see the benefit of both. I like that the benefits of each one- I like that the larger brush could help me get my foundation done faster on those rushing days and I like that the other brush is better for the press and circular motions on days when I have more time! Brushes are so confusing to someone who is just starting to try to learn to do makeup a bit better! I’m 38 so getting a late start and, while I still don’t like to wear makeup often, I’ve found I occasionally like to wear it when getting dressed up. From being more craft I get that the right tools make all the difference but I’ve rarely found descriptions that truly let me navigate the world of makeup brushes- especially when most people say “it’s a personal preference as to which is better” and leave it there. I don’t know what my preference is haha! So, again, thank you! All the tips and tricks were very helpful but the brush tutorial is gold to me! I will definitely be watching more videos to see what else I can learn about tools and tips and tricks!

I appreciate these lessons with makeup. I didn’t realize dotting foundation on the face lead to using too much of the foundation. I’m going to try your method the next time. Thanks for helping me application, it’s so important as I age.
