For the fourth installment in our online war game demonstration series, we're taking on the National Naval Aviation Museum! This time we'll be re-fighting the Battle of Midway using the free online game Order of Battle. Using the ships and aircraft employed by both sides, we'll come up with our own strategies to find out what might have happened if history had taken a different course. Joining us will be Mr. Guy Nasuti, a historian with Naval History & Heritage Command, to discuss the battle and the events leading up to it in the spring of 1942.

The Hornet was commissioned in October 1941. She still had her shakedown cruise to go on and some more training cruises until March 1942. I agree her air group may not have been trained enough, I think the Pacific Fleet might have been better off without the Doolittle raid.

Does the game simulate experience or lack of experience in terms of aircrew? For example is the Yorktown airgroup "better" than the Hornet airgroup?
