TIP #1. Keep your answer ‘work-related’ and don’t talk about what you do outside of work. If they want to know this information, they will ask you the question, what are your hobbies and interests.

TIP #2. Tailor your answer to the role you are applying for. The best way to do this is to read the JOB DESCRIPTION before your interview. The job description lists the essential skills and qualities needed to perform the role competently.

TIP #3. Structure your answer using the S.E.A.T format. S.E.A.T stands for:

• S stands for the SKILLS you have relevant to the role.
• E stands for the EXPERIENCE or EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS you can bring to the position.
• A stands for any ACHIEVEMENTS you have gained in life so far.
• T stands for the TYPE of person you are and how you will add value to their company.

TIP #4. Make sure you PRACTICE your answer to the question tell me about yourself before you attend your interview. This is going to be the first question they will ask you. If you answer it well, it sets you up with confidence for the rest of your interview and it goes a long way to making a positive first impression!

TIP #5. At the very start of your answer, demonstrate good manners. Thank the interviewer for giving you the opportunity to be interviewed for the position! This, again, helps create a good first impression.

LET ME NOW GIVE YOU 4 WORDS AND PHRASES YOU CAN INCORPORATE INTO YOUR RESPONSE TO THE INTERVIEW QUESTION TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF!
#1. The first word to use is INDUSTRIOUS. This is such a good word to use when answering the interview question tell me about yourself because it describes you as someone that is diligent and hard-working.

#2. The second word or phrase to use in your answer to the tell me about yourself interview question is JOB DESCRIPTION. Tell the interviewer you have the skills to match the job description. This shows the interviewer you have prepared fully for the interview and you are effectively ‘ready-made’ for the position!

#3. The third word or phrase to use in your answer to the tell me about yourself interview question is ADD VALUE. When telling the interviewer the type of person you are, say you will always ADD VALUE in the role which means they will see a positive return on their investment if they hire you.

#4. The fourth word or phrase to use in your answer to the tell me about yourself interview question is HIGH-ACHIEVER. Tell the interviewer you are a high-achiever and someone who always strives to do great things in their work.
