Synopsis: CONNECT is born from a dark place but is ultimately a love story, helped along by humour and a refreshing authenticity.

Kevin Guthrie, hot off Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewold, gives a breathtaking performance as Brian, a lonely insecure young man who is struggling with anxiety and inner demons. Like a heartbreaking amount of men today, Brian decides to take his own life. While standing on a cliff edge in the darkness, about to meet his end, Brian is grabbed by a stranger: Jeff (Stephen McCole), a man who offers to be his friend.

After his near-death experience, Brian resolves to improve his life and reconnect with the people around him. Jeff encourages Brian to volunteer at the local Day Care Centre for the elderly where he meets Sam (Siobhan Reilly), a single mum who radiates positivity and honesty.

To rebuild his social life, Brian turns to his fun-loving colleague Gavin (Cameron Fulton), who encourages Brian to embrace the festive period…starting with some Christmas karaoke. Brian panics as he arrives at the bar, only to be comforted by the hypnotic voice of Sam as she sings to the crowd.

Over time, their relationship blossoms - Sam challenges Brian to battle his anxieties and Brian provides Sam with much-needed friendship and support. Then, suddenly, Brian is pulled away.

I was blown away by this film, I was totally absorbed from beginning to end. It was a perfect depiction of depression and anxiety that no other movie has come close to the reality of this mental health condition, the fine details and accuracy is what stood out.

I couldn't find subtitles but decided to watch it anyways. The thick accents made it a bit hard to understand at times but I still LOVED this film. The depiction of mental health issues was fantastic and I will forever remember the ending scene.
I deeply recommend this film !
