Everyone has to keep in mind that buzzfeed is a company. The main goal is making money. It's not some non-profit organization.
Everyone is complaining how they are using advertisements. They have tons of employees who need to be paid, and advertising for big companies is a way for them to do so. Instead of being all butthurt, we should support them and realize that they're a company that runs on money. Every company out there is like that. And if you say that you don't like money, you're lying.

You want some real gems, come to Queens.
We have people from over 190 ethnic groups (some are tiny minority groups) from around the world and we are the most diverse place in the US. You can find so many varieties of cuisines and fusions foods from around the world all here. And we haven't gotten touristy yet. Go to down town flushing for literally every Asian country from East Asia to the Middle East and everything inbetween. Corona for every latin food ever made, Astoria for the entire Balkans region and Turkish foods. And so on and so on. 
For non food gems we have museums and places that most tourists never go to but locals know about and love. There is the Museum of the Moving Image, the Queens Museum, Flushing Meadow Park Zoo of North American Animals, the New York Hall of Science, the World's Fair Grounds, Louis Armstrong's house and museum, John Bowne House (a Quaker meeting house built in 1661), Fort Tilden ruins, Jacon Riis Park,  etc. We also have other attractions that are the real hidden gems in New York.  Come to Queens if you want to see all the sutff tourists haven't crowded out yet

Back in 2015, when on a holiday in NYC, I proposed to my wife at Central Park as we overlooked a frozen lake. Afterward we had burgers at that spot. Two years later we moved to Manhattan and I love it.
