As someone who plays 60 ping edit on release is one of the biggest advantages. It’s almost necessary to have good aim on higher ping, but having faster mechs is great too.

I also heard some Pros saying that the reason they prefer Edit on release Off is because you can also Piece Control faster because at the moment of the edit you are already holding the Place Building Keybind

I totally agree with the "I can't learn it" excuse, when I switched to edit on release off, I started with literally placing a floor, a wall in front of me and editing that wall to continue this pattern over and over again. Then i added a ramp edit infront of the wall, ofc this was way too hard, so I did this in slowmotion. I went on to do double edits (slow motion) and then day 2 i could already do triple edits(slow motion), after that i was able to freebuild in slowmotion so i did that and basically after 3-4 days it was already instinct. After 2 weeks I felt the complete same as with edit on release on speed wise. Hope this helps someone to learn edit on release off. You really have to start of slow. Make sure you don't develop bad muscle memory by pressing confirm too early on cones/walls etc. Really take some time to get accurate edits.
Edit: A very common mistake I see is people playing edit maps where the builds are already layed out for you, dont do this, you will have a way harder time building up the muscle memory when youre actually the one placing them, just practice in slow motion.

Switched to off around 6 months ago, best decision ever as my edits are just ever so slightly slower but still fast enough to do literally any combination of edits and my consistency in boxfighting and piecing is just was better

you gotta keep in mind the fact that your ping will affect which option is better. if u got higher ping, edit on release is probably better for you

imagine if epic added a bind something similar to mobile where it would auto reset edits but instead a bind that disables edit on release so that we could use both

As marrentm said the myth that you cannot switch to no EOR after starting from EOR is very wrong. I am an example. It only took 7 days to get use to and 2 months to master and it improved my mechanics. Peaks are so important especially this season

when you go for this right hand piece just run to the left or right depending on what side you want then run while making the edit and they won’t see you and you have better angle

Been about 2-3 weeks since I turned this off. I’ve definitely become a better fight although my free builds are no where near as good and I mess up a lot. I also don’t really hit too many clips or flashy plays. I still have a hard time doing some consecutive edits that I see players do on YouTube and tiktok. I will continue to work on my mechanics for another month and give an update

I turned it on a month ago and my peaks are already a bit better but with more practice they wil be insane 🔥 Insane video

This made me wanna stay on edit on release

as a person who switched, it takes time getting used to, it's ok to switch back as it is normal, but keeping the mindset that you want it off, and switching back and forth of it on and off. you will eventually get the hang of it and have it off permanently.🤝

One time i was watching a tutorial in my car on easy high ground retakes, this was about 6 months ago, in that video there was an example of a cone flip, i was shocked and couldnt understand how to do it (at the time i was using EOR), so i slowed the video and saw a "confirm edit" button. After that i began looking at videos, similiar to this one, that compare the two styles of editing. I knew i had to make the switch, but i was not looking foward to practicng and and re learning editing... It took me 2 days to consistently do triple edits (after switching EOR off), about 2 weeks to get back to my editing speed at the time, and now i feel like there is a minimal gap between me and the pros editing and mechs. If my lazy ass can do it so can you.

Would your opinion on edit on release change with the current state of the game? Especially with players like Peterbot excelling with it on?

When I learned keyboard 2 years ago I never put EOR on, but when I watch Peterbot it makes me wanna switch

I personally say do not use it if you wanna be a pro but if you’re casual and want better mechs then turn it on.

I made the switch i love it, i was struggling with my movement and build iq, im able to track the player better. it gives you a free range of movement which is very beneficial for right hand peaks
