Growing up, we used to do this with African threading and I think I shared this in a different post. I discovered the hard way that my ends can never be out. So styles like afro puffs aren't for me. When wearing buns, my ends must be tucked away. Vine wrapping saved my ends from unnecessary trimming and is a must when in twists or braids. I didn't even know the different names used until I started researching this technique and Nica's is flawless. I've been "sealing" my ends with mousse before vine wrapping them for years now and won't look back. Another added benefit is that the twist look more uniform and the hair appears to have more volume as the naturally tapered end is wrapped upward. Thank you again Nica for being so generous with your knowledge. You deserve the recognition.🙏🏾

As a long-time wearer of twists AND SSK's, I, sincerely, thank you for this stroke of genius! I have a feeling that it's going to prove to be "The missing link" for more length retention 🤩
Btw, it's refreshing to find a content creator who, actually, brings value to her videos. I appreciate you!

Honestly it’s a game changer a lil grease on the ends and a vine wrap… it’s the truth😩😮‍💨

Yes ma'am, I have tried the vine wrapping on my ends (now that I have growth 🙌🏾), and I love it, sis! I use to have ssk like they were at a convention (it made no sense) but not anymore, thank you!! 😘

OHMYGOD thank you so much 😭I feel blessed with this information because my hair is super coily and i realized twisting the ends seemed to make things worse and it seemed like no one else is having these issues. I just redid my twists yesterday, and i coiled the ends because i dont know what else to do but now im going to do this and see how it works. I'm going to retain so much length now I feel like this solved something major because i always have to cut off my entire ends everytime i untwist 🛐

Thank you so much Nica! I’m so grateful you took the time out of your day to make this helpful video. I almost relaxed my hair again because of SSK. When going to salon they said I wasn’t trimming enough, but I was cutting off 1-2 inches every 6 weeks cause of knots and not retaining any length. I know this isn’t a cure all but it’s definitely helpful. This is brilliant! Thank you again 🤯❤️

I've tried it, but found I get more tangles so I don't do it anymore. I add flaxseed gel to my ends instead. Helped me a lot.

Genius! I saw you doing this in another video and tried to test it out on own hair and it took a couple of tries to get right. This tutorial showed me how to do it easily.

Thank you. I just put in mini twist and I was concerned about my ends.

this is what I've been doing the last couple of months without even knowing! I wanted to mimic a short bob so I could get used to this artificial length because im getting ready to cut my hair for healthier ends and I'm seeing I need to cut about 4 inches already from my 12 inch length hair... I needed time to process that my hair's been damaged and that this is going to be my new length for a while, but I have been absolutely loving wrapping my ends into what I thought where inverted bantu knots.
You know, the first 5 years of being natural I was suffering with extreme ssks which made it super hard to retain length, I would go get professional trims but those b*ches would return a week later. Overtime I've seen that when my hair retained moisture the ends weren't as damaged. I originally tried this wrapping method years ago but my hair knotted up so bad I had to cut it to release it, I don't know why it gave me the confidence to retry it again this time around... I guess the thought that I was going to cut my hair anyway didnt make me attached, but I ended up doing it correctly this time. lol. Man the things you learn being a decade plus natural.

Trying to focus on retention and healthy ends this year and this looks like a great tip. How do put your hair away inside the bonnet/scarf... like is it just loose, tied up like a banana?

I have super long 2B/2C but super coarse hair that knots instantly as soon as it’s down
I can’t coil but my hair dreadlocks almost daily. It doesn’t have enough texture to hold a twist 😅

I’ll keep figuring something out
