How does an old mountain cabin in Norway look like on the inside?
Показать описание
This old mountain cabin on Sørøya island in Northern Norway provides an emergency shelter for hikers and skiers who pass by. It is spartan on the inside, but gives you a place to sleep and the fireplace will warm you up. What more do you need when you are on a hiking trip in the wild? It is not suitable as a tiny house for permanent dwelling, but for a night or two it is perfect!
The cabin is located on the new hiking trail that takes you across the island from Hasvik in the South and to Tarhalsen in the North. This is a marked 110 km long trail that will be finished in 2022, but 2/3 of the route is ready. It takes you through a beautiful and wild Arctic landscape. This is a place far from the madding crowd and you will not be sorry for visiting:)
Sørøya (Northern Sami: Sállan) is Norway's fourth largest island in terms of area. The 811-square-kilometre (313 sq mi) island is divided between Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality. It is often claimed to be "one of the most beautiful" of the islands in Norway. In 2012, the population of the island was 1,092. The island is very rocky and mountainous. The highest point on the island is the 659-metre (2,162 ft) tall mountain Komagaksla on the southern shore of the island. The coastline is very jagged and has numerous fjords that cut inland from the open ocean. The island is surrounded by the Norwegian Sea on the north and the Sørøysundet strait to the south.
