When things finally clicked for me with bike handling I rode with a feeling of almost surfing on the bike. Letting it move actively under me, and not just passively letting it take me along with the terrain. This means the ability to control weight on the bike which equals ability to control traction.

This advice is gold. Watch this twice, it will save you on a sketchy situation. Especially an unkept trail after a few heavy rain days.

This is the way. A lot of times I’m intuitive and find my form was correct but that is just something I notice. I am always about learning, getting lessons from great instructors.

I bought a Nukeproof because of this channel.

No regrets.

Having the confidence to turn tight and aggressively is the biggest blocker to progressing my downhill. I haven't even fallen off doing it, I'm just a big scaredy cat

makes sense, keeps your body weight centered over the cornering lugs driving them into the ground

It amazes me how many videos don't focus on this at all as if it is second nature. Motorcycle safety courses will teach this concept, but it's nowhere near innate.

I can’t help but feel I do this naturally after spending a lot of time riding sport bikes. Pushing more on my inside hand to lean.

I'll try this technique on this sunday race

You are also keeping the weight directing down on the tire maximizing traction. If you stay in line and lean like a motorcycle, all your weight is offline and traction reduces.

I figured this out in my garden when trying my new mountain bike

I try to do this but I need to put more trust in my tires because it turns out they can take a lot more than I think x3, just a confidence thing for me lol
