I've curly hair, I regularly just move my hair in a direction opposite to my part and massage the roots or place my hands over the roots for a minute and it works great

The easiest way to add volume to already washed hair is dry shampoo in my experience, (just don't overdo it for too many days or your scalp will feel horribly dry and itchy). You can also do a mini zigzag on your part, and that will create volume as well; I like to use both of these and really lightly backcomb the roots on super fine hair.
For my curly girls, (as a fellow curl-bearer and former hairstylist) only condition your mid-length to ends, and try to use a balancing shampoo. Don't wash more than every 4 days; between washes, just use a detangling comb or brush (depending on how tight your curls are), remoisturize the ends with a leave in conditioner and cold water and brush it through, leaving your roots dry.
There are tons of products and hacks to help make your hair look thicker, but getting your omega threes, managing your stress levels, and not overprocessing your hair will help the most. Biotin for hair skin and nails is the best supplement you can take to improve hair density. Give your scalp a pore cleansing and stimulate the blood flow with a rosemary or peppermint root spray or shampoo, since lack of proper blood flow to the scalp is one of the major reasons for hair loss. Make sure your scalp isn't full of waxes and product build up with a cleansing shampoo once a week if you're a fan of using products (or you use the dry shampoo technique for styling!). Also, don't overdo the tea tree. Overdrying your scalp will send your skin the message that it isn't producing enough oil, and will overcompensate as a result, forcing you to wash more often and fighting oily roots. A balancing clay shampoo is much gentler (Live Clean makes great shampoo and conditioner that's very affordable).
