The Terronion M.O.D.E. has been an amazing device for my Model 1 Sega Saturn. With the Laser in my old beast dying out I was unable to enjoy my small library of games on its intended hardware. Over the last year emulation was the only way I could play these titles and while that is a good solution, there is nothing like using the real deal on a CRT. After having the M.O.D.E. for a while I was curious to see which of the 4 storage options on offer was the best to utilize on Sega Saturn. So I decided to put my small library to the test!

Thanks for this video. Very niche but useful to those in that niche. Made me feel much better about splurging for a 1 TB or 2 TB HDD instead of an SSD and economically holding a full data set and all home brews.

Surprisingly i’ve not had many issues with PS1 and SAT. Only Dreamcast since i’ve replaced the laser at least 3x now.

I was not expecting that much of difference between the systems, considering that I think the original CD can load only 300Kbytes/s, I don't think the bus can handle higher speeds. So for that I think caps a lot the gains you can have from so fast memories.

Wonder if this is going to be same as any Teraonion product, ie. It becoming another Holy Grail that is harder nay near impossible to come by over a short time from release? :/
It's a good option to have mind, and also it's not like an SSD will last forever either regardless of the non 'moving' parts due to their read/write cycle life., same with micro SD etc, so I'd just go simple HDD route myself, and keep the temp low and in check. 👍

I don't know why so many are insistent on using expensive SSD's on the Mode. With the Saturn, you aren't going to see a difference, you are limited by the Saturn's system bus. Sure mechanical drives have seek time, but compare hdd seek time from the mid 90's and current tech, it's night and day.
Even on the Dreamcast which has a much faster cdrom and system bus, modern mechanicals are more than fast enough.

Im lookin at picking one up this guy has for sale but he has games listed as i would like the cover art instead how would i go about getting the cover art on here or is there an option in modes settings that give you this?

Is there a way to get a fan in there without a mount?? I have a older hard drive that is about 7 years old and still functioning. Would like to use that until it craps out. Who has put a fan in their saturn??

Does the laser bear mount allow for a fan to be mounted? How did that work out?
