....Ο άνθρωπος παλεύει με πολλά σκοτάδια μέσα του. Δεν πρέπει, ωστόσο, ν’ αγνοεί και τη φωτεινή εστία, που αγρυπνεί σ’ έν’ απόμερο κατατόπι της μοναξιάς του, την εστία της ανθρωπιάς του. Εκεί υπάρχει ένα τρυφερό παιδί με αγύμναστα μάτια. Ένα παιδί, που έρχεται να ζήσει, όχι να πεθάνει. Που δεν ξέρει το κακό, που είναι διψασμένο για φως, που στρέφεται και μας κοιτάζει και κατέχει την περιέργεια και την απορία. Είναι ένα γλυκό παιδί, ένα ξημέρωμα. Θα είναι μεγάλο κρίμα αυτό το παιδί να το ακρωτηριάσουμε, να το παραμορφώσουμε, να το σκοτώσουμε. Πρέπει να του μάθουμε πως ο άνθρωπος είναι πλασμένος για τα μεγάλα, πως δεν είναι ο από γενετής φονιάς. Να του διδάξουμε το μέγιστο μάθημα της αξιοπρέπειας, να το ενισχύσουμε με τη δύναμη της επιείκειας και της αγάπης, αυτή την ασύντριφτη, την αράγιστη δύναμη. Να του πούμε, πως έχουμε πέσει σε μεγάλα λάθη και τα πληρώσαμε πολύ ακριβά και τώρα πια δεν ξαναπέφτουμε στα ίδια λάθη....

....Man fights many darknesses inside of him. He shouldn’t, nevertheless, ignore that luminous core that stays awake in a secluded retreat of his loneliness, the core of his humanity. There, lies a tender child with untrained eyes. A child, who comes here to live, not to die. Who knows not of evil, who is thirsty for light, who turns and looks at us carrying the question and the curiosity. It is a sweet child, a dawning. It will be a great pity to amputate this child, to deform it, to kill it. We should teach it that man is created for great things, that he is not the congenital murderer. To teach it the supreme lesson of dignity, to enforce it with the power of clemency and love, this unbreakable, uncracked power. To say to it, that we have fallen into big mistakes and we paid very dearly for them and no more will we fall again into the same mistakes....

....L’uomo combatte molte tenebre dentro di sé. Non deve, tuttavia, ignorare anche l’epicentro luminoso, che vigila in un rifugio isolato del suo essere, l’epicentro della sua umanità. Lì esiste un tenero bambino, con occhi inflessibili. Un bambino, che viene per vivere, non per morire. Che non conosce il male, che è assetato di luce, che si volta a guardarci e possiede la curiosità e la sorpresa. È un dolce bambino, un’alba. Sarà un grande peccato che questo bambino lo mutiliamo, lo deformiamo, lo uccidiamo. Dobbiamo insegnargli che l’uomo è fatto per cose grandi, che non è dalla nascita un assassino. Insegnargli la più grande lezione di dignità, inondarlo con la forza della compassione e del bene, questa infrangibile, inspaccabile forza. Dirgli, che siamo caduti in grandi errori e che l’abbiamo pagati molto caramente e che adesso ormai non ricadiamo negli stessi errori....
