Croatia is a beautiful country. Visited there in 2018, we went to Split, Hvar, Zagreb, Plitvice and Dubrovnik. Loved it all!

My grandpa was from Croatia and never got to meet him and learn about his homeland, so these videos help to at least give an idea of the country and connect with that lost heritage. Croatia seems like a place that has been through a lot but has remained resilent still. I don't understand a lot about its history and politics but I know it's a good place with good people.

As a Croat I am amazed on how you didn't start any controversy whilst talking 15 minutes about the Balkans.

Modern day Croatia was named after White Croat people who settled there in the 7th century.

Ancient White Croatia was located in Western Ukraine south-eastern Poland and north-eastern Slovakia-Czechia and Hungary.

When Hungarians settled in Pannonia province, southern Croatia and northern White Croatia separated.

both of my parents are Croatian, but i live in Canada so i've struggled a bit to truly understand the history of Croatia since i only hear bits and pieces from my family, but this was about as straightforward and unbiased as you can get, so thank you! I love Croatia so much. My parents recently got a house in Vodice so I cant wait to visit, the last time i was there was when I was like 12 or 13 years old.

I'm Polish and I must say it is so great to hear about Croatia. It's my favorite tourist destination and also a major ally for Poland in the difficult time. 🇵🇱🇭🇷

hard to tell everything in 18 mins but you left out an interesting thing: the mongol invasions. Around 1241-42 the mongol empire came all the way to Croatia. King Bela IV of the Arpad dinasty fled the mongols to Croatia where he resisted capture in Trogir. Usually noone knows the mongols were this close to "western europe" and only turned back because of the death of the great Khan.

My Croatian ancestors migrated to New Zealand before WW1 from Dalmatia, thanks for making a video that I can learn some of my own family's history from!

Zimbabwean here. My great grandfather was also Croatian from the island of Korčula on my father's side. He married my British great grandmother ( whose sister was on the Titanic ) and they moved to Cape Town, South Africa. This was an interesting video for me. Thanks.

Talking about war with Ottomans and not mentioning battle at Siget is kind of heresy
