For those asking for an explanation:
the Brother is a police sergeant. He was abused by his dad as a kid, but his sister wasn't. The dad has now moved to a nursing home, so the sister wanted to renovate the house and sell it but the brother straight up wants nothing to do with his dad or his dad's house. The gun is the dad's, dad was ironically helping a neighbor who was abused by her husband murder the husband and hide the evidence. He did that by hiding the gun in the wall and sealing it. I remember being in fourth grade and a police officer coming to give a speech to the student body. And one thing I remember him saying is that even if it's their day off, if they have their badge and gun on them during any altercation, they're immediately back on the job

I had a sergeant create work for me on his day off and literally had no issue with it. Called in a suspected DUI and even stayed with the dude after he eventually wrecked out until we got there. Dude was fine but got arrested partially thanks to Sarge making the call.
