Ana de Armas put in a lot of work to perfect the voice and accent of Marilyn Monroe. She spent nine months in training to keep her from sounding Cuban, but when the film was shown in test screenings in 2021, the audience members still complained about her accent. Director Andrew Dominik mentioned that they put work in during post-production to make her sound more American. Ana’s casting made some American audience members outraged by her casting, but the cast and crew sided with Ana, stating that she was the perfect fit for the role. Ana isn’t the only member of her family to work on the film. Marilyn’s dog in the film is actually Ana de Armas’s dog, Elvis.

She really knocked this part outta the park, but the subject matter and particular story is awful. I do appreciate the famous photos of her being shown in different concepts. Also the death photo where she wakes up was absolutely refreshing on my heart and made her death at the end (even though it’s known it’s coming of course) made the blow not so sad.

Her voice isn’t even the worse thing in the film. In the entire film she is either naked, calling someone “daddy” or something around those like that’s very sensual, even sexualizing Monroe’s assault.

As a Cuban person I can testify it’s very hard to prevent our accent from coming through when we talk, sometimes it’s there sometimes it’s not. So in all honesty Anna probably went through a lot to get to the point where she was in the movie she did great

I don't know much about MM. But this Blonde movie gave me chills. And it's been a long time since a film gave me any emotions. I even cried. So she did great.

Honestly, one of my biggest issues is the falure to get the proper silhouette for the time period. The costumes were beautiful, but they had modern silhouettes in general.

I have a hard time hearing accents growing up with multilingual parents so I didn’t notice her accent but my partner wouldn’t stop complaining about it! Off topic but I didn’t find out my mom had a accent till 6th grade when my friends pointed it out. I still have a hard time hearing it, she sounds normal too me.😅 Anyone else like this or do I need to be tested on? 😂 Great movie by the way! Wish it would be true to her life though.

She did a great job performing Marilyn Monroe. She studied her mannerisms well enough that she even replicated how Marilyn mouthed the words "expensive jewels" in the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes scene. That was quite a hard feat to do but she nailed it, and that was enough for me to consider her performance as the best among all Marilyn Monroe portrayals
