Canoa Manabi is located on the coast of Ecuador. A small town of only 3000, it has great beaches with a much more relaxed vibe than that of Montanita down the road. And while there was an earthquake in Canoa or terremoto, this Ecuadorian beach town has bounced back.
This is a more relaxes beach town in Ecuador, there is lots of surfing and has some of the best yoga retreats in Ecuador. Some claim it also has the best seafood, and it is certainly one of the least expensive towns in Ecuador on the beach.
And Canoa is nice. It is much quieter than most Ecuador beach towns I have been in.
Fisherman arrive in the morning to sell fish, then some head out at 12pm for 8 hours to get shrimp. Most people are very friendly and helpful. This small beach town lies on the Pacific coast of Ecuador, and is around six hours away from the capital Quito and eight hours from Cuenca.
Canoa is on a beautiful stretch of coast, and draws a growing number of visitors who come to enjoy the wonderful natural surroundings, the brilliant waves for surfing and the warm welcome of the locals.
