Adrienne Malley plays 'Six Metamorphoses after Ovid' - I. Pan
Показать описание
For Musician Drop Friday, we're exploring Greek mythology with LACO oboist Adrienne Malley playing “Pan”, from Britten’s “6 Metamorphoses after Ovid”.
In this first movement, Pan, the god of nature, attempts to pursue Syrinx, a forest nymph and fails. In order to escape him, Syrinx transforms into hollow water reeds that produce a tone reminiscent of the nymph, with which Pan uses to create a musical instrument, known today as the pan flute.
