Tim Walz LIVE: Tim Walz Attacks Trump & Vance | Walz Pennsylvania Rally | US Elections 2024 | N18G
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz slammed Former US President Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential pick JD Vance for saying that school shooting “is a fact of life”. Earlier this week, the Ohio Senator commented on the devastating Georgia school shooting. While he condemned the incident, Vance did not speak about the need to strengthen gun laws.
Walz’s jabs at Vance came during his address to the LGBTQ+ advocacy group on Saturday evening. US Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ VP pick made it clear that such events are “not fact of life”. The war of words between Walz and Vance started after a 14-year-old named Colt Grey went on a shooting rampage at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, killing 4 people.
“I don’t like this. I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you’re, if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools,” Vance said at a campaign event in Phoenix, a day after the attack.
On Saturday, Walz recalled Vance’s remarks while addressing the Human Rights Campaign, a major LGBTQ+ advocacy group, during its annual dinner in Washington. “It’s a fact of life some people are gay. But you know what’s not a fact of life? That our children need to be shot dead in schools,” Walz said.
