The BEST Earbuds I Ever Tested - Sony WF 1000XM5

There is new king around here and it's name is Sony WF-1000XM5. These earbuds have the best ANC, fantastic transparency, audio, features, and more. There is so much to like about these!

ANC is absolutely incredible!
All frequencies are crushed and you just get absolute silence. It is clearly improved across the entire spectrum but especially in the vocal range. I had no idea my wife was talking to me yesterday
They have a new dedicated ANC processor inside plus a new integrated processor for everything else

TEST 1: The common test for white noise: tied in first place with Bose QCii and AirPods Pro 2, but the other frequencies are the big win
TEST 2: crowd test - 48.6dB
Bose - 47.5dB (previously first place)
TEST 3: female voice test - 45.6dB
Bose - 40.6dB

TEST 4: Wind - in transparency mode, it sounds exactly like my actual ears in wind
In ANC mode, it is very muted but still audible until I play any music. I would say in high wind, I might need to turn my volume up by one notch but that’s it
Bose QCE2 have very marginally better low end ANC, but these crush it with the high end and have less white noise, so overall these feel quieter in most environments

On the XM4 sony did improve the microphones A LOT throught software updates and I bet they will here too. On top of that, here the problem seems to be some form of saturation, as it clearly is not a microphone issues, more like how the sound is processed. So I bet that it will get better pretty soon.

I have used the XM4 earbuds as daily drivers for about 2 years and oh boy how much I loved them. After using them almost everyday for about 3 hours (going to the gym, training, and coming back + groceries), They were for me already agead of the most recent competition (appel), except that after so much use, the battery on one of the buds now lasts for only 40 minute with ANC on.

The fact that Sony only includes foam eartips is not great, but I would recommend using Render eartips. These have foam in the inside and silicone on the outside; they seal your ear canal like any foam tips but they don't get grimy. I've been using them on the LinkBuds S and it has been great.

So I’ve had the XM4s since launch and had no problem with the ear tips. I did clean them improperly and they peeled a bit but after I learned how to cleaned them via their site, never had that issue again. Mines didn’t split and still use them today.

For anyone who doesn't know this, sonys 1.6.2 and 2.0.0 software update made the xm4 buds heat up to an abnormal degree while charging causing permanent battery damage for some users

MIke, you have already tested dozens of headsets with different phones. I've been using my Jabra Elite 75t for a while now with 2 Android phones and they worked great for me, powerfull bass, a lot of settings via Jabra app, etc. Recently have moved over to iPhone sound as cheap chinesse TWS, the app alters the sound but just a little bit, you can bearly notice the difference. There is a void between their sound via Android and iPhone. Have you ever encountered that? really loved them, no I'm disapointed and not willing to buy the airpods (just too expensive).
