LOL We had one that thought he was a weatherman or traffic controller, after the call went out he'd give the temperature, traffic condition, etc. Since he was senior we just put up with it. Every month the dept. came out with a dispatch award, this part-time student won it every time. Quick, to the point and clear messaging. Miss that girl.

I work as a local journalist and one time I was standing on the side of a mountain with most of the fire command staff on a beautiful summer evening as we watched the cruise work a fire on the north side of the mountain. All of a sudden the tone started going off. And they kept going on. And they kept going. We are all looking at each other wondering what in the hell were missing. Finally after literally Toning every single station the dispatcher says "I need all available fire units to respond to the pilgrim lake townhomes for a multiple unit structure fire"
We all did a 180 and you can see a massive glow about 4 mi south east. Had any of us turned around and looked while we were up there we would have seen it long before it got that big. We were also busy looking at the brush fire which was not a big deal that we missed the massive apartment fire. Luckily it was under construction so nobody actually lost their homes but it did destroy 18 units so it was a hell of a fire.
