More recipes for 1-2 people would be great. It’s only myself and my mom

🍽 This is a great video, especially with the economic inflationary cost of food today. Thanks for providing much-needed cost-saving processes for freezing foods.

Going to finish my strawberry jam tomorrow and make more apple butter later on. Nothing like making your own and enjoying it when you want.

I love frozen cookies. At Italian weddings here in Appalachia, there is always a cookie table. Dozens upon dozens of different cookies. In order to make than work, you start 6-8 weeks in advance and freeze the cookie. We do that fir Christmas cookies too; start baking in October, so there's no hurried baking in December.

My mom would buy several loaves of just plain sliced bread at a time and stick them in the freezer as is. Since we went through a couple of loaves a week at least, it just prevented the 2nd or 3rd loaves from going stale until we got around to them, and it was not in there long enough to worry about freezer burn.

But there is another little trick that she had involving bread. Since no one in the family really liked the end pieces or heels of store bought bread (home made is another story), she would take them and stick them into another bad. Just one of the bags that the bread came in would do. Squeeze out the air, and close it back up, no need to vacuum or suck the air out, and put it back in the freezer. It would build up over time, and then when she needed to make stuffing for a roast turkey or chicken, she could take them out and tear them up to use.

Thanks for the video. After we clean our fish, we put the fish on freezer bags and then fill with water (we have well water) and then close. We've never had freezer burnt fish...even after a year.

I love your video's and splitting freezer meals for smaller families is great. I do have a helpful hint for you and your family. Please don't throw away the Pineapple core! Chop it up and put it in a freezer bag and use it for your smoothies. The core contsins vital nutrients that will benefit you and your family. The core contains Bromelain and helps with inflammation, digestion and other healthy benefits. I learned this from a Health Store employee years ago. And your pineapple 🍍 slicer is perfect for saving the core. Thx.

Thanks for this one, Kristen! You just reminded me that I have corn in my fridge I bought a couple of days ago and forgot about. Going in to clean it up and bag it for the freezer!

The pineapple core will stay in the shell if you don't cut off the bottom. Love that tool.

When I make shredded chicken, I boil the chicken with seasoning, carrots, onion, garlic & celery. When done remove chicken and strain the broth. Then put the broth in Mason jars to freeze. Shred the chicken and put it in 1 cup freezer containers. My homemade bread recipe makes 2 loaves so I freeze one. I put the loaf (unsliced) in a Walmart freezer bag (located in the meat section) and use Air Tight Bag Clips to close the bag.

I have had the same pineapple corer for years. I always put the pineapple in a wide bottomed bowl before I core it because the juice that comes out during the process is delicious and I want to drink it instead of wasting it all over the cutting board. 😊 also, often the core still has great fruit on it, so I consider that a bonus treat to eat before throwing it away.

Btw. Double bagging things (bread 7 buns) also cuts down on frost buildup. Stick buns - bag & all into freezer bag then freeze (removing as much air as possible). Same with loafs of bread.

Can you do a video of what cannot be put into your freezer? Or the changes that will happen when you do.

I’ve found that buying dollar tree Saran Wrap and individually wrapping each bun and then putting in freezer bag, keeps them so much better! I defrost in the wrap, they stay soft and ice doesn’t build up became they are wrapped tightly
