In this video, Dr. Berg talks about diabetes and the genetic connection. If you are African American, from Africa, or live in Africa, there could be a genetic weakness that makes you prone to getting diabetes or metabolic syndrome...BUT only if you do excessive carbs. The gene that is involved is a sugar-regulating gene. A simple solution is to reduce carbs and this reduces the risk.

What to say when elderly awesome chef neighbor lady has us over for dinner of meatballs (grains), stuffing, jello (cute, huh?), and cherry pineapple cobbler (full sugar). There is not one offering I can sneak to over my plate to look like I'm eating. I used to bring a huge salad in these cases, but she has problems with salads and fats (maybe IBS- lame doctors don't really give her ideas to help, and doctors say her potassium is too high, so disgusting drug to lower that). I gave up and indulged. It usually takes me 4 days to recover from such a meal. Help? How do I fly under the radar and still show love to my neighbor?

The African diet is high in carbohydrates which causes high sugar.. It's not a genetic predisposition.

Hi Dr Berg
I am doing keto for years, I was in nutritional ketosis, did intermittent fasting (4 hours window), water fasted several times for 3 days, and had a water fast for 30 days. My blood glucose will not go under 81 mg/dl no matter what, usually its just under 100 mg/dl, even after months deep in ketosis, and 3 weeks in in water fasting.Interestingly it rarely goes higher than 110 mg/dl.

I wander what is your opinion on this.

Thanks

People from India 🇮🇳
What do we do?? A huge percent of our population is diabetic

N we are told that it’s genetic and we r highly prone to it if it’s in the family

Not genetic. It is both cultural and behavioral. I am diabetic and manage it without medications. Diet diet diet and exercise. Or be like my family and eat what you want while on meds. Shorter lifespan and less quality.
