Kia Motors Corporation officially opened in December 2019 its new production plant in India in the Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Following a $ 1.1 billion investment by Kia, the new Kia Motors India (KMI) manufacturing plant is now fully operational.

The Anantapur production plant is capable of producing up to 300,000 units per year. This increases Kia's total global production volume in addition to manufacturing in the world's fifth-largest new car market. The plant occupies around 2.16 km2 and incorporates stamping, welding, painting and assembly facilities. In addition to the Seltos petrol and diesel variants, future electric and hybrid vehicles have been taken into account in the design of the production lines of the KMIB plant.

The plant is equipped with more than 450 robots in the press, bodywork and paint sections, as well as on the assembly line. In addition, the surroundings of KMI are home to numerous supplier company facilities. Kia's presence in Anantapur has helped create more than 12,000 new direct and indirect jobs across the region.

The facilities also align with Kia's global focus on quality, with a control center that ensures the highest manufacturing standards. The final stage of the plant's production process is an advanced quality assessment and evaluation, carried out in collaboration with suppliers to allow all parties to benefit from the results. Kia's quality control measures ensure continuous improvement of product quality, reinforcing the reputation for reliability that the brand has earned so hard.
