I have one and I think it's a great EDC (and then some) bag without the "tactical/tacticool" look = less attention/stigma - It's what's inside that counts... It holds all my essentials and then some, with room for more if needed. For my longer hikes I carry a larger bag, but for walks or around town or small hikes where I still want to carry whatever I may need this bag is great. If there is a downside with this bag, for me it's how close to the neck the shoulder strap sits.

You are probably overthinking the "it looks expensive" 90% of people do not even know what Patagonia is. And there is a high chance that you will have something more valuable on you then a Patagonia Sling bag.

Looks like a good bag. I’ve become a fan of sling bags. There are so many on the market now that I’m happy with the quality of bags I’ve found for $20-40 rather than something this expensive. Tip for those of us who live in climates where coats and jackets are used most of the year. I have a shallow bag that doesn’t stick out much, which I wear facing forward, under my jacket. It’s wouldn’t be easy to grab or slice off but if I need access to something in a store, I just have to unzip my coat.

I paid for the vertx sling but had issues with the unnecessary flap at the top of the strap digging into my back I am opting for the atom now but plan to utilize a cacoon board some how for stabilizing the carry.
