Shades of the Chris Stewart hit on Niklas Kronwall years ago. What puzzles me is that Stewart got 3 games for the boarding hit, whereas Nesterov got 2. I need to point out that Kronwall was not seriously injured, whereas McKenzie did not return to the game. If anyone complains of inconsistency, I got your evidence right here.

I agree he should have been suspended.

...although if he didn't get injured i doubt the suspension would have occurred.
(A lot of other dirty hits like the one on shaw that are overlooked cause the guy gets back up)

if your gunna skate backwords into the zone, there needs to be some way for the defenseman to make contact and protect his blue line. this specific hit certainly couldve been avoided, but in general, players need to be accountable for not putting themselves in vulnerable positions where the only outcome is to be hit from behind. now i dont think this particular hit was clean, but facing the boards during active play has become a legitimate strategy for fowards, and has resulted in many suspensions and injuries that could have been 100% avoided by the puck carrier. i feel that needs to be punished aswell.
