The Suzuki Ignis is a plucky small SUV-sort-of-city-car that gives you loads of interior space, Apple CarPlay and a 4x4 system for under £18,000. In some ways it's basic, but it ticks all the right boxes and has a charm that shames plenty of other modern cars at twice the price. So should you buy one? Join me for a full interior review, driving impressions and handbrake turn tests. Erm...

Suzuki Ignis are and have always been teriffic little cars. My wifes first car was an Ignis. It wasnt fancy or flash but it was super reliable and an excellent small car. We love Suzuki cars and she now drives a Vitara. Most under rated cars on the market.

I'm now driving my second Ingis. This time I have the top of the (Australian) range. Great seats, had to drive for 4 hrs there and 4 back (800 km 'round trip) in a day for a funeral a few months ago, wife and I found comfort great. Our max freeway speed in NSW is only 110 km/h so drives comfortably with limiter/cruise control. Grandkids 6 and 7 can buckle themselves in. CVT and climate control AC increase fuel consumption, used to get <5l/100km with the earlier one without climate control, now more like 5.5 - 6, mainly 'round town (10% ethanol). Driving Penrith-Canberra weekend after next will get another chance to check fuel consumption, no hybrid or 4WD available here. Very comfortable to drive, I am 182 cm, no problem with access, height adjusting seat means sun visors can work, and vision is good - we do get a reversing camera, no built-in sat nav, google maps on 23 cm screen are great, and up to date.

I got myself a 2022 Ignis today, I'm still working out how all the features work, brilliant video thank you so much. I am amazed how roomy it is inside.

One of the first Suzuki cars imported into the UK in the 70s/80s was the rear wheel drive Whizzkid. The 3 slashes in the rear metal work of the Ignis are a nod to the styling of B the Whizzkid.

A good honest review. Nice to see a car reviewer with both hands on the wheel.

I've had a new Allgrip for a few months now. It's fine, economical and drives pretty well. In 5000km it's been tested on mixed town, country and mountain roads and some autoroutes. Living in the mountains the 4wd, coupled with decent winter tyres, will get tested soon with winter arriving. The 30l tank is annoying only allowing 500km or so but I guess it's par for the course for such a small car. BTW it does have a reversing camera (French version).

The three little profile stripes on the back wings is a nod back to the 1970s Suzuki SC100 GX

Big fans of the brand We had two Suzuki Vitaras.
Coupled with excellent service from the dealer in Ashton under Lyne, it was all a good experience.
Our second car is a Celerio and it just keeps on going 👍

A sensible review. They're a brilliant little car, a bit different to the norm and they're so easy to live with. We have a 2021 SZ-T CVT - the gearbox is actually pretty decent and it's very smooth - plus, it does just 2, 000rpm at 70mph, which is better than the manual. Ours spends most of its life in town though, where its perfect! Weird how that one doesn't have a rear camera, ours does, and the collision mitigation system, and ours is a mid-spec SZ-T.
I would say you do sit a bit higher than in a Fiesta though. Ours replaced a Citroen C3, which you do sit a bit higher in, but this is higher again.

I have one and I absolutely love it! For highways is not the best but it can comfortably take you around town no problem. It can do some off-road but don’t spect it will take you to the top of a mountain.

Really good review. I'm running a 65 plate Subaru at the moment and it's not the cheapest car to run and maintain, plus my dealer is miles away. I nearly got an Ignis hybrid allgrip new last year but the 7 month wait put me off. I was impressed with the ride quality, the acceleration is surprising with the little electric motor, it soon zipped up the motorway slip road with no need to floor it at all. Seriously looking at one of these now, cost of fuel is a rip off in the UK and these are good solid reliable cars. I'm 53, ive had a few fast cars but I value my clean license and I don't do many miles so this would be a very good choice.

I'm just about to collect my own Suzuki Ignis today.
I saw it in the dealership, test drove it and just fell in love with it.
I'm so excited for owning one of these little mini Canyanero's

Suzuki is a favourite brand in our family! I owned a 1998 Suzuki Grand Vitara 5 door, a 2015 Suzuki S-Cross, and a 2016 Suzuki Grand Vitara 3 door. My son has owned a Suzuki Alto from new in 2012, and it's still his daily driver! He plans to drive it until it dies (if it ever does)! He'll buy another Suzuki then, whether it be a Swift, an Ignis or a Jimny. He's in Australia so all are possible. I suppose a Vitara would be possible too. And Suzuki also make great motorcycles!

I liked the way you reviewed the car. I saw many car reviewers recently, I would rate you among the best.

I've just bought a Suzuki Ignis Auto & am smitten with it. Small but perfectly formed.

Such a cool car. Has great approach & departure angles. I would love to have a 4x4 manual variant. I’d slap on some lil mud terrain tires w/ an aggressive tread and figure out a way to do a minor lift kit. The US never gets cool cars though.
