I Like the Worst Handlebar

Straight bars are the worst handlebars. They only have one hand position, they don't have room for accessories, and their lack of bends makes them weird to fit. They're dumb, but I like them. Straight bars are the ultimate fixie handlebar.

The short straight bar is the fixed gear of handlebars

Sees rider with drops: "whoa, bet they're fast" Sees rider with straight bars: "that person is riding a bike"

I'm just glad the ultra wide fuckboi handlebar trend is slowly coming to an end. Bus driver handlebars on aero bikes and track bikes drive me nuts.

love the minimalism of flat bars. There is a second position I often use with the hands outstretched and the base of the fingers resting on the bars. This is a nice alternative if you want to relax and be more upright or to take some pressure off the palms for a while.

Marriage has led Zach wanting to try bike parts approved by Spanish Inquisition 🤷‍♂

Road straight bars for a year. Just swapped to Enve carbon Ar bars. I can hold the tops like my flat bar. And get in the drops when I want. They are very comfy

I also run straight bars on my fixed gear with a front brake but with a bullhorn style bar ends. Looks like a 90’s xc MTB but its comfortable in long commutes and beats buying another handlebar since i can just take it off if need to

Why don’t that many people ride bullhorns? They are my favorite

I started riding strightbars about 15 years ago in Manhattan, makes is considerably easier to cut between buses, fell in love with them, my bar today is a nitto cut down to around 30" - hah.

The bike I have now I bought used and it came with these handlebars but with cut ends. The narrow feeling was actually good but i changed them because it’s hard finding good grips with only a stem to grip, im going back to them now haha

My quest for the best handle bar led me back to the 460mm swallow tail MTB traditional bar. The biggest issue for me is the height of the stem. Then the angle for my wrists. Lastly the width best described by 'push-up' position. This means narrower is better than most popular bars.

Ran a straight bar for about a year. Didn't notice any issues.

Short straight bars are pretty exclusively for fixed gear? Add a bell, a light and some brake levers and the short straight bar is just not enough bar to hold those items.

No matter which bars I have I always grip in the center next to the stem. Just feels good to me.

Remember when origin8 came out with some of these, you could unscrew the ends and stash stuff in them
