AP Watch Stolen?! 😱 (Audemars Piguet Coverage Service)

So Audemars Piguet / AP just announced that if you bought a NEW watch from their boutiques and it gets STOLEN, they will replace, repair it refund you for FREE under their new AP Coverage Service. AP Coverage Service is a FREE service that can be activated online and covers 2-years for Theft. AP still holds discretion to approve or deny claims and will cover up to $55,000 of their watch.

The thing to note with regards to this coverage is that it covers you if ‘YOU’ purchased from a ‘boutique’. So if you’ve purchased this on the grey market, they will provide 0 coverage. Now bearing in mind that most AP’s end up on the grey market and AP know this, it’s very clever marketing on their behalf as the actual claims they will end up paying out on are very low indeed!

It’s a good coverage but also promotes fraudulent claims. I’d love to see Rolex and Patek follow😆

I remember the Rolex chairman stating it cost approx 300 USD to manufacture a non precious metal Rolex many years ago, before he got shut up rapidly.😅. I wonder how much an AP equivalent costs to make 🤔

The service is worthless if they have no watches to sell. The NYC boutique had nothing to sell. 0 inventory when i stopped by a month ago.

I think it’ll depend on where you’ll wear it, because in some places, you can literally get your wrist shopped off to take whatever is on it. But still it’s really cool that AP are doing this, they definitely get more customers with it.
