better trick: use a normal knife, just warm it up by holding it above the flame of your stove

It's not a fail, the butter should not be cold other wise it will never spread at all only on toasted bread, in this case for this knife you have to keep the butter in room temperature then you will use it successfully, i liked the knife

To easily spread cold butter just use a spoon and rub it like two or three times across the top of where you'll scoop. Friction melts it where you rub, so just rub enough surface area to cover your bread. Takes like 3 seconds

You're supposed to scrape it up through the holes and mash it slightly on the butter so the friction creates heat and then you can spread it easily.
