Well, yeah, sapphire is obviously better than hardlex but hardlex is better than just regular mineral crystal. Ben’s watch club did a great video on all the different types of crystals and came to the conclusion that hardlex is indeed better than just a regular mineral crystal.

Chris, I'm more than sure there is a very small micro scratch i, the sapphire crystal you can't see with the naked eye....so now you can just send me the watch.

That was pretty brave, thanks for the demonstration!

Watches should only come with acrylic or sapphire crystals. Mineral crystal, incliding Seiko's Hardlex, is the worst of both worlds. It's easier to crack than acrylic, and much easer to scratch that sapphire. Acrylic is also prone to scratches, but scratches on acrylic can be buffed out. It's almost impossible to remove scratches on a mineral crystal.

Both of my SKX’s I have sapphire crystals and aftermarket bracelets with milled clasps. If Seco had just given us that… They would’ve sold millions upon millions… Instead, they turned it in to a dive style, fashion watch…

Is it hard to get the glass from my seiko put and putting saphire in?

That's why i bought the Tissot Seastar Quartz instead of the SK5.
Imo the bracelet is better, i prefer Quartz, because of the accuracy and it has the sapphire already installed. Plus my dealer provides me with better service for Tissot watches

Nice one, Chris! Hey, you should confirm if any of them have AR coating on the outside, though.

The moral is: don't scrub your hardlex crystal with a chunk of granite.

Mineral glass on my 8 yo Casio edifice has barely any visible scratches. I wear it almost daily and is Still crystal clear.

So either works I guess.

Anyone notice the second hand jump just passing the 12 o'clock??

Yes, but don't forget the anti-reflective coating, which scratches relatively quickly on sapphire.

you may or may not realize granite. . contains quartz. . you should redo with a piece of brick

I've had several seiko with hardlex, so many micro scratches and even big ones from normal wearing, it's total garbage.

Isn't Hardlex just heat treated mineral or are they just what the eyeglass companies use in thier lenses I'll take sapphire any day no matter where it comes from Thanks for sharing your test results 👍

WELL yeah try using the same moves with the exact intensity and you can crack your fake "saphire" resist AD
