Shashi Tharoor speaks to NDTV: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor today defended his party colleague Rahul Gandhi's remarks that regional parties can't defeat the BJP. Mr Gandhi made the remark at the Congress's strategy camp in Rajasthan on Sunday. Mr Tharoor today said what Mr Gandhi meant was that regional parties by their very own nature tend to be limited geography, while the Congress has a national outlook.

I request Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to change Congress leadership and give the incharge to strong, educated and young or middle age leaders that means a non Gandhi family leader so that party can revive and try to win 2024 elections. Mr Tharoor, I also feel lets not scratch the wounds of pre-1947. we should move on with 1991 religious act, The problem is this. when we are ready to put the wounds under carpet, they way in which political parties, including INC, are directly or indirectly creating new wounds by supporting those forces, (Yasin Mallik + MMS), (Indias resources first right to Muslims-MMS) with unreasonable demands, for 60 years, INC had no intent to crush violence by terrorists J&K and other cities of India, I am totally convinced what BJP does is the way to go.

One simple query - are we only focused on elections and winning. Today it is 2024. Tomorrow it will be 2029 and so on. "Service to People" is the key.
